Ten years of Arctic & Fabulous!
This year is the tenth anniversary of the Arctic & Fabulous Film Festival and it is celebrated in an arctic atmosphere with Nordic quality movies. Suited to the jubilee year of the festival, the Finnish film competition is larger than ever before. This year the competition was opened also to male film makers and it was divided into two categories; the professional category and the student category. Over hundred films enrolled to the competition and of them 36 were chosen to be screened during the festival. The quality of the films was delightfully high.
The Nordic films of the festival represent the new quality filmmaking at its best. Their themes, immigration, the situation of the minority cultures, violence in schools, are painfully current phenomena of our time. In addition, the Arctic & Fabulous film festival does not forget its child audiences either. Traditionally, the children’s movie screenings have been very popular and this year we are able to enjoy a musical comedy called Risto Räppääjä.
