Mikael Blomqvist is a journalist in an economic journal and is sentenced to prison for slander. He has to solve the mystical disappearance of Vagner’s niece which happened in 1966. Mikael gets assistance from a young hacker called Lisbeth Salander. Together they dig deep into the history of the Vagner family which is revealed to be darker than either one of the two had expected.
